Te Huringa Rumaki Reo Sponsorship

Taranaki Support Finlayson Park School

Te Rōpu Pūkaka Kapahaka Society and Tūtū Kā’ika are proud to be able to sponsor the Finlayson Park School Year 8 Graduation for Te Huringa Rumaki Reo, in acknowledgement of the Mokopuna and Tuakana that are from the Taranaki region. Although they are not living physically in Taranaki, everyday they make their ancestors proud and we want to encourage them to continue on that journey knowing that Taranaki is behind them every step of the way. Tuku atu, tuku mai te reo me ōnā ture ō ngā mātua tūpuna I ngā wā katoa

A big thank you to Matua Tipene (in the featured photo) the YR 7 & 8 senior teacher of Te Huringa Rumaki Reo (THRR) for organising the event and allowing us to support the kaupapa. A special acknowledgement to the Principal of Finlayson Park School, Whaea Shirley Maihi for her unwavering support of all things Māori and providing a safe environment where children from all places can build the essential foundations required for them to learn, grow and achieve while embracing their own unique culture. A prime example of this, was the guest speaker for the Finlayson Park School Awards Assembly day (Gabriel Tongaawhikau - A former student of Finlayson) who shared his experiences with the upcoming seniors of THRR and soon to be juniors of James Cook High School, inspiring them to be persistent and dedicated to whatever challenges they choose to take on.
